Description

The Communication Research Centre is within the Department of Social Sciences at Loughborough University. The Centre undertakes research into both sociological and social psychological aspects of media and communications. Recently, it has been the UK base for an ESF Programme, "Changing Media, Changing Europe", and for a project on media content analysis funded by the Economic and Social Research Council as part of its Research Methods programme.

The Centre was created in 1991 and its co-directors are Prof. Michael Billig and Prof. Peter Golding.  The Department's teaching in media and communication studies was recently adjudged to be the best in the UK in the Times Higher Education League Table.  It's research was rated the highest possible rank of 5*A in the UK national Research Assessment Exercise.
